What is the lowdown on security system or fire alarm system monitoring? Call Larry Love 801 428 1384 at Peak Alarm for more information Larry@peakalarm.com

$26-$32 per month for monitoring over analog phone lines. (The concern is that normally analog lines cost about $40 per month each line)
$35-$45 per month for cellular monitoring for security systems
$48 per month for high supervision cellular for fire alarm (no phonelines required) These dial out every 6 minutes
$41 per month for AES Radio monitoring
$5 extra for smart phone arm/disarm
$ extra for repair or extended warranty starting at $7 per month for small systems

When you pay around $14 per month for central station monitoring often you are giving up dealing with a live person or a local company and often the service you get is below par.

Peak Alarm has been in business since 1969 and currently only has 2 complaints on file with the Better Business Bureau www.bbb.org

Peak Alarm is the only Alarm company in Utah that has their own UL listed Central Station, a full Guard and Patrol Division and same day or next day service.

There are other companies out there that have over 3,000 complaints on the BBB in the last 3 years and that is concerning. Many of these companies are currently being sued or have been in litigation with several states. Many of the companies that appear in the top 5 or top 10 alarm companies online are some of the worst companies as far as BBB reviews and customer reviews. Check before you buy.

North Pole amusement park Colorado bad experience

Customer service classes may be in order

Customer service classes may be in order

North Pole Amusement Park with Santa’s Workshop in Colorado may need to send their employees and or owners to customer service training

My daughter and her husband with my three grandchildren went to the North Pole Amusement Park in Colorado and my daughter’s account of the experience is concerning.

Many of the reviews that I read online were excellent saying that it was a fun park. Some people feel the rides are old and should be updated but the rides are old because they basically collect and refurbish older rides.

My daughter said the food was not very good and it was over priced which is what we would all expect from an amusement park but when she recounted her experience with the owner Tom Haggard I was concerned.

My daughter arrived at the park and they were only able to ride on three rides in an hour and then the park was shut down because of rain. The park did not offer rain checks or passes to return at a later date, but what concerns me more was the attitude of the person that attended my daughter and her family. She said he was rude. If indeed Tom Haggard really is the owner of this park it is sad that my daughter got the perception of rudeness from him. If their policy won’t allow for rain checks or free passes for another day or even discounted tickets he runs the risk of unhappy customers which means that advertising by word of mouth will be less than positive. Just the facebook post was able to reach quite a few people.

So if policy won’t allow them to give out rain checks (Free passes or discount passes) was it necessary that he treat a customer in a rude manner.

So I am not discouraging you from going to the North Pole Amusement Park although I would say make sure it is not on a rainy day and be careful not to talk to the owner on a bad day either. I am sure the owner has his own version of the encounter although when I went through customer service classes I learned rule number one which is “The customer is always right” and when there is a problem with that rule refer back to rule number one again “The Customer is always right.”

My daughter was with her husband and three small children which were excited to ride on the rides only to learn that the park was closing because of the rain. So a young mother is dealing with crying kids, wet kids and now she is being told they have to go home.

I wonder if it would have been terribly hard for the owner to take my daughter aside and provide her with some free passes to return. If this would have been her experience she would have posted a glowing review for The North Pole Amusement Park online and on facebook which would have sent more customers to his place of business.

As a side note, I was not there so I only heard about the experience by word of mouth from my daughter. Just from that encounter I would choice to go to a different park. My dad taught me a wonderful lesson that I try to live by. “If you have to choose between being right or kind, always choose kind.”

LULAC responds to Trump’s speech

July 22, 2016

Uniting in the Face of Hate, LULAC Responds to Trump Nomination
WASHINGTON, D.C. –Last night, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump delivered his acceptance speech to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. In response, LULAC National President Roger C Rocha, Jr. and LULAC National Executive Director Brent Wilkes issued the following statements:

“Donald Trump’s acceptance speech sets out a vision that will not ‘make our country great again’ but rather rejects the values we hold dear,” said LULAC National President Roger C Rocha, Jr. “Trump justifies his hate and condemnation against the Latino community as political correctness. He fancies himself as the ‘law and order’ president whose plan for immigration reform includes mass deportation and building a wall. Facts and the truth are irrelevant to Trump’s uninformed policies. Studies have continually shown that immigration increases wages and reduces labor shortages in low and high-skilled markets. In fact, if anyone has taken advantage of the system, it has been Trump. His multiple bankruptcy filings have been used to cancel contracts and avoid paying average Americans for work performed at Trump facilities. If elected president, Trump’s divisive policies will bankrupt our country both morally and economically, and the damage will be felt for generations to come.”

“Donald Trump’s fanatical acceptance speech advocates for a divisive American police-state terrorizing its most vulnerable residents with additional pain and suffering simply because they are of a different race or ethnic heritage than the majority population,” stated LULAC National Executive Director Brent Wilkes. “Long on impossible promises and short on achievable specifics, Donald Trump’s speech has brought an end to the party of Lincoln and replaced it with his twisted brand of authoritarianism.”

LULAC Regional Vice Presidents Decry Trump Nomination
WASHINGTON, D.C. –In response to Trump’s acceptance speech at last night’s Republican National Convention, LULAC regional vice presidents issued the following statements:

Juan Lopez, National Vice President for the Northeast
“Trump’s acceptance speech last night cemented in the minds of the American people that he is nothing short of an evil clown with a knack for telling horror stories. Trump’s acceptance speech did not enumerate a plan of how to fix our broken immigration system but rather, it was a hate-filled speech by an egomaniac. Trump’s claim that he is the authority of how our system works and therefore the only one suited for fixing the corruption misses the point. Trump is part of the corruption and the potential ramifications from a Trump presidency will be impossible to overcome.”

Lydia Medrano, Ph.D., National Vice President for the Southeast
“Trump’s speech last night was much more than an acceptance of the Republican presidential nomination. Rather, it was a speech with hateful themes that included a litany of bigoted remarks against Latinos and the undocumented community. Trump’s speech was void of a thought-out plan of how to help the millions of hardworking immigrants who are essential to our economy and include farmworkers and those in the service industries. His speech made clear that a Trump presidency will result in a damaged society which will take future generations to fix his mistakes and ‘make America great again.’”

Gabriel Youtequia Rosales, National Vice President for the Southwest
“Last night Trump continued the rhetoric of fear. His notion of law and order is discriminating against different cultures, religions and ethnicities – which is unacceptable. It was also clear that he will continue his attacks on the Latino community with a mass deportation policy that separates millions more of our families. In addition, he laid out an irresponsible position on the 2nd Amendment that failed to address the accessibility of semi-automatic assault rifles, the lack of funding for mental health, and insufficient background checks. Trump’s speech was empty of real solutions and was only successful at further dividing our country.”

Joe Henry, National Vice President for the Midwest
“In last night’s acceptance speech, Trump used racism to further promote himself, his agenda and connect with his base. Latinos saw through his futile attempts to sympathize with the community as short-sighted and out of touch. However, the most concerning point of the speech was the dehumanization of the Latino and immigrant communities. Latinos will not allow a candidate to use hate-mongering as a platform and, come this November, we will show our disgust and vote against a Trump presidency.”

David Villa Hernandez, National Vice President for the Farwest
“Trump’s speech was yet another attempt to outline his ill-fated vision for America. His worn-out talking points continue to ignore the realities facing our most vulnerable communities, and his repeated calls for building a wall and mass deportations as solutions to the nation’s problems demonstrate a lack of understanding of the complex issues that America faces. We need a leader with viable policies that respect immigrant families and provide Americans with pathways to prosperity, and Donald Trump has proven once again that he is not that leader.”

Beware of TOP alarm company lists

Top alarm company lists are a tangled mess

Top alarm company lists are a tangled mess

BEWARE of the TOP ALARM company lists on the Internet. Many of them are just PAID advertisements.

On a recent TOP ALARM company list for Salt Lake City these are the results:

They listed a company in the number one position that is an out of state company that also provides out of state monitoring and that has over 70 complaints filed with the BBB in the last 3 years.

In number two position they listed a company that also has out of State monitoring and has over 4,000 complaints with the Better Business Bureau http://www.bbb.org

In number three position they listed another out of State company that has over 450 complaints against them on the Better Business Bureau in the last 3 years.

In fourth place they listed a Local company that has over 3,600 complaints that have been filed against them on the Better Business Bureau and they are not even BBB accredited.

Two companies that were not even listed in the Top Positions were:

Mountain Alarm which has an A+ rating with the BBB and only 2 complaints filed in the last 3 years.

Peak Alarm which has an A+ rating with the BBB and only 2 complaints filed in the last 3 years.

So to figure out why two of the actual best alarm companies in Utah were not listed is easy because they did not pay for the advertizing but if you have thousands of complaints you can still be on the top 10 or top 5 companies in Utah or Salt Lake City.
