When you need details about alarm systems don’t go with a cookie cutter business that does mostly wireless systems. Peak Alarm does over 50% of it’s business in the commercial field and we also do quite a bit of high end residential. We have deals for quick installations and low monitoring rates although I can get you details on high end security systems with a design team and experts that can help you with your design for a UL2050 installation or a higher end project with quality products from DMP, Bosch and other manufacturers.

Call Larry Love to set up an appointment for your detailed no cost site visit. We do it right and Peak is the only alarm company in Utah that has a full service guard and patrol division and a UL listed Central Station. Other companies third party out either the guards or the monitoring and Peak Alarm keeps it all in house.

What’s interesting or alarming about alarms?

Just plain good

Just plain good

Often people think of alarm systems as alerting the police or the fire department of a burglar or of a fire alarm and that is true although now they do so much more. Here are a few examples of what current alarm systems can do for you. What type of services can Peak Alarm provide?

Commercial and Residential Services both for the homeowner, contractor or business owner. Design, installation, testing, training and monitoring. Phone line monitoring, Radio monitoring on our own frequency licensed by the FCC, Cellular monitoring & Internet monitoring

REMOTE GARAGE DOOR
1. Did you for get to shut your garage door or your not sure if you did? Open your alarm app check and go ahead and close the door from anywhere.

REMOTE CONTROL OF LIGHTING
2. Did you mean to turn on or turn off a light before you left the house? Do it from your app or have the lights randomly turn on and off when you are not there or even when you are there. Have them turn on when it gets dark and then shut off at 10PM or 11PM and turn back on at 5AM or 6AM and then turn off at 7AM

REMOTE THERMOSTATS & CAMERAS
3. When you are on vacation do you worry about the temperature in your home? If you have fish or other pets do you worry about them when you are gone?
Use the alarm app to adjust the temperature up or down or just check it. Use the app to look in on your pets or children with cameras that we can install in strategic places.

REMOTE VIDEO DOORBELL
4. Have you ever wanted to know who came to your door while you were away? If UPS or the Mail main were to come to your home while you were gone how cool would it be to answer the door with a video phone and even let them into the garage to leave a package and then shut the garage? Now you can with the SKYBELL or Alarm.com Video Bell. View and talk to those that come to your door. It alerts you and you can tell them you can’t come to the door and they will have no idea whether you are home or not.

HEAT SMOKE FREEZE, CO (Carbon Monoxide) and WATER SENSORS
5. If you are on vacation and it is winter your pilot light or the furnace may stop working. If the home drops below freezing the pipes could freeze and even cause expensive flooding when the thaw back out. Get heat, smoke, freeze and water sensors installed on your security system to alert you to these issues. This will end up saving you in the long run and they are not that expensive to have installed. If the basement floods it will cost you thousands of dollars. If the pipes freeze it can also cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars. If the house burns down you or your family could be hurt or killed. Often smoke will overcome people while they sleep so having smoke alarms that alert the fire department is much better than just the smokes that wake you up (which often don’t wake you up) CO sensors can also be added to your security system and having the smokes, heat, freeze, Co and water sensors does not cost you anything additional to monitor them per month. The installation will cost but the monthly monitoring will not. If you are paying for normal phone line monitoring you will need to add a cellular and elite control (interactive arm/disarm) to view your alarms over your smart phone. The world of alarms is changing.

LOCKS
6. Do you worry that if your children have lost 3 or 4 or more keys that someone might find one of them and get into your home or even their friends might? With a keyless entry lock your children or employees can access your home or business without keys. In a business we install prox card readers in homes we install a keyless entry lock which allows them to enter without a key and you can even unlock the home using one of these locks and your smart phone.

MOTIONS, GLASS BREAK, SHOCK, DOOR AND WINDOW STATUS SENSORS and Monitored 24 hour lockdown status to your gun rooms or datavaults.
7. Peak Alarm can install all types of security for your business or home including the above normal items associated with security or any of the ones we mentioned at first. Call Larry Love 801 428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.com http://www.peakalarm.com

ACCESS CONTROL FOR BUSINESS SITES
8. Do away with keys and have Peak Alarm install Peakedge access control. You can access the system online and add and delete users. When someone quits or is fired you cancel their card access instead of trying to get keys back from them or trying to rekey your facility.

CAMERAS
9. Peak Alarm can install several different types of camera systems. Call Larry and he can come by your facility or home to go over the different options. You can access these cameras using your smart phone to view your home, business or pets remotely from anywhere.

INTERCOM
10. Peak will install a weatherproof intercom and door release system on your home or business so you can talk to those that come to the door.

PERS
11. Peak can install a system in your home or business with medical alert buttons that you wear on your wrist, around your next or mounted buttons. These can be programed as panic buttons to call the police or medical buttons to alert a family member or alert emergency services. Yes this can be used if you have fallen down and cannot get up. The buttons are water resistant.

VIDOFIED
12. Peak Alarm offers special services for situations where you need our dispatchers to verify if the intruder is an animal or a human. This is great for empty buildings, car lots, tow lots and much more. Call Larry for more information. This system does not require power to work but will transfer pictures over the internet to the dispatchers upon alarm and they will decide to send police or not.

Recent Peak Alarm ongoing training

Brands of Fire Alarm

Depending on the brand of fire alarm you have installed in your facility the cost of parts and service will vary. When you choose a proprietary many times you may end up paying higher costs.

Peak Alarm offers ongoing training programs to their 300 plus employees at four offices in Idaho and in Utah. This week the sales teams were trained on what flexibility is available to us regarding contracts, the different options and customization that our Central Station can offer to the customers and we were trained on our new initiative WHITE GLOVE TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS AND EACH OTHER.

Call Larry Love (801) 428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.com for more information. ESPANOL Y ENGLISH http://www.peakalarm.com

Peak Alarm continues to train all their departments and the new WHITE GLOVE initiative is to help step up our customer service and also treat each other with more respect. Peak also puts all their employees through FBI background checks and even local police department checks.

Some of the other important points of the training were as follows:

All 22 of those in the training answered various questions and had to get answers from others in the group to complete the surveys.

1. What do you dislike most in a sales rep? Being Pushy, High Pressure, Late and Dishonest were the top four answers.

2. When a salesperson is talking to you, what interactions make you feel uncomfortable? Lack of knowledge, talking too much without listening

3. How do you as the customer define value? Bang for your buck. Not everyone will buy the most expensive product and most won’t buy the least expensive product but customers want quality and a fair price. Many are willing to go with a solid company like Peak Alarm even if the prices are a bit higher because Peak offers a whole package of same day or next day service, UL Listed Central Station, Guard and Patrol Service and top notch sales teams that are knowledgeable.

We discussed some of the tried and true principles of sales such as A.Preliminaries (Hello etc…) B. Investigating stage – What do they want, what do they need and what is their budget? C. Demonstrating – What is the capability of the products that Peak Alarm offers and D. Obtaining Commitment in the form of a signed proposal or agreement.

We learned about the research done between larger dollar sales and smaller items and how high pressure sales techniques actually hurt your possibility of getting a commitment when dealing in larger dollar amounts. The smaller purchases that can be related to impulse buying don’t cause as much buyer remorse. Getting a bad deal on a larger product such as a car can affect more people than the customer. Often other security companies hire very young people and teach them these high pressure sales techniques so they can go out and get quick sales. These are the same companies that are being sued in several states and that have thousands of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau.

Peak Alarm is proud that we have only had one complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau in the last 3 years as of 9/22/16 and zero complaints in the last two years.

We had a session on contracts and learned quite a bit about the ins and outs of these agreements and why we need them to protect the company and the customer.

We made long lists of items that we can improve on and among the list of items we determined that some of the most important things we all should be working on are: Being Honest at all times, Showing up early to each appointment and if we cannot then making sure we call ahead of time to let our customer know what happened and when we will arrive. Another skill that we all need to work on is COMMUNICATION. One of the most important parts of this skill is LISTENING so we learned some techniques associated with listening, body language and personalities. Product knowledge is important although we have a large team of people that can help with that and learning what our customers need and getting them pricing in a professional timely manner will make all the difference in the world. We also went over the importance of sending out hand written thank you cards.

We had a training during our two day training sessions where the sales team actually programmed a DMP security system so we could learn what the techs go through and have a better understanding of how the technical side works. Hands on training We also had a class about customer service and the options our Central Station can offer the customer. Well that is short recap of this training and then we ended with several of our team members getting awards for their efforts.

Thank you to Peak Alarm management for feeling that ongoing training is important enough to spend this much time and effort on. Call Larry Love to get more information about Peak Alarm, Pricing or to set up a tour of Peak Alarm in Salt Lake City. (801) 428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.com

Access Control Utah Electronic locks

It might be less expensive but most of the time the cheap systems work out costing much more than getting it done right by a UL listed company.

It might be less expensive but most of the time the cheap systems work out costing much more than getting it done right by a UL listed company.

Peak Alarm installs and services electronic access control locks and systems. Call Larry Love 801 428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.com http://www.peakalarm.com

You can use Maglocks (no moving parts) or you can use strikes( moving parts which wear out in 3-5 years on certain brands) If you use strikes that allow free egress then often you don’t have to have a request to exit motion or buttons to get out like you would with a maglock. Often the fire marshal will require that the fire alarm release the doors even with strikes so you can not only get out but so fire and emergency workers can get in.

DSX, DMP, Honeywell, Bosch and other products are used and with electronic locks you don’t need to re-key your building after someone leaves. Request to exit motions and a tie into the fire alarm system make it so people can get out in an emergency. Maglocks require door release with a button, motion and often a connection to the fire alarm panel.

Access Control systems will allow you to set user groups and limit access to certain days and certain hours so managers can get into the building any time but normal daily workers badges will only work 9-5PM as an example.

Peak Alarm is the only Alarm company in Utah that has their own central station for monitoring and their own Guard and Patrol Division. Other companies use third party companies for guards and often for monitoring. There are a couple that have their own central stations. Mountain Alarm also known as Fire Protection Services use Avantguard which is owned by family members of Mountain Alarm. Peak Alarm is the only UL listed Central station that holds 5 UL Certificates including the UL2050 installation and Monitoring Certifications as of 2016.

Change your batteries in your smoke detectors every 6 months

If they are system smoke detectors not only will they wake you up but they will notify the central station who in turn will call the fire department.

Many people don’t wake up with all the noise. There are new detectors out that are low frequency that do a better job of waking you up.

Residential detectors should be cleaned periodically and also replaced every ten years. Don’t risk the lives of your family.

Residential 120 volt smokes with battery backup cost around $15 each at a big box store. They have more expensive models that are better. It is better to buy photoelectric detectors rather than ION since ION will false alarm more often in high altitudes.

Residential smokes that are not tied to your security alarm system do not notify the fire department. Adding smokes to your security system does not raise the cost of your monthly monitoring. It will however give you a discount off your insurance depending on your insurance company.

System detectors cost about $130 dollars installed and they are worth every penny you pay. Get peace of mind knowing the fire department will be notified of a fire whether you are home or not. Call Larry today. 801 428 1384
