First Alert Simple Guide to Battery Replacement
It might be less expensive but most of the time the cheap systems work out costing much more than getting it done right by a UL listed company.
Peak Alarm installs and services electronic access control locks and systems. Call Larry Love 801 428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.comhttp://www.peakalarm.com
You can use Maglocks (no moving parts) or you can use strikes( moving parts which wear out in 3-5 years on certain brands) If you use strikes that allow free egress then often you don’t have to have a request to exit motion or buttons to get out like you would with a maglock. Often the fire marshal will require that the fire alarm release the doors even with strikes so you can not only get out but so fire and emergency workers can get in.
DSX, DMP, Honeywell, Bosch and other products are used and with electronic locks you don’t need to re-key your building after someone leaves. Request to exit motions and a tie into the fire alarm system make it so people can get out in an emergency. Maglocks require door release with a button, motion and often a connection to the fire alarm panel.
Access Control systems will allow you to set user groups and limit access to certain days and certain hours so managers can get into the building any time but normal daily workers badges will only work 9-5PM as an example.
Peak Alarm is the only Alarm company in Utah that has their own central station for monitoring and their own Guard and Patrol Division. Other companies use third party companies for guards and often for monitoring. There are a couple that have their own central stations. Mountain Alarm also known as Fire Protection Services use Avantguard which is owned by family members of Mountain Alarm. Peak Alarm is the only UL listed Central station that holds 5 UL Certificates including the UL2050 installation and Monitoring Certifications as of 2016.
Larry Love with Peak Alarm Larry@peakalarm.com 801 428 1384 can help you with any size access control system.
1. Present your Prox ID Card, read your thumb or fingerprint, have your eye read or enter a code and have the door open.
2. The door is held shut with a magnetic lock or electric strike in the door jamb.
3. When magnetic locks are used the system needs to have a request to exit button, request to exit motion and when the building has a fire alarm the system should be tied into the fire alarm for automatic door release upon fire alarm.
4. Strikes that allow free egress (people can go out with out any prior knowledge) don’t have to have request to exit motions or buttons nor do you have to tie to the fire alarm system but strikes have moving parts and wear out sooner than maglocks so there are pros and cons for doing it either way.
5. Call Larry and he can help walk you through the process of what is required for an access control system at your facility. When we put electronic locks on glass doors there is a bit more involved because there speciality locks. So knowing when we are dealing with metal, wood or glass doors is very important.

Protect your assets with updated technology don’t stay stuck in the past
Peak Alarm offers Interactive services (Elite Control) meaning you can control the following items using your smart phone:
1. Alarm System
2. Lighting control with schedules and remote control of lights
3. Thermostats also on schedules and remote control of temp, air etc..
4. Lock Control – Unlock, Lock remotely and even disarm your system when the doors are unlocked.
5. Garage door control. Did you shut the garage door or not? If you are not sure just get on your cell phone and your system will tell you if it is open or shut and if it is open you can automatically shut it.
6. GEO FENCING – We can help you set up the system so when your phone gets into a certain range like a half mile from your house the system will turn down the house temp, turn on the lights for your and even unlock your doors. These are relay logic strings that we can program into your security system. The same holds true for when you get a half mile from your house the system will lock the doors if they are not already locked and turn off the lights and adjust the temp all without you even doing anything.
7. Some of the items we can connect to your security system are as follows:
Smoke Detectors, Heat detectors, Temperature sensors, Water bugs or flood sensors in your laundry rooms, by the water heater or water softener or in the basement where your sump pump is, Carbon Monoxide sensors (can’t see this gas or smell it but it makes you sleepy and if there is enough of it you don’t ever wake up) We install these just outside funace rooms, just in the home by the garage or near sleeping areas.

Access Control Installing companies in Salt Lake City and Utah
Please contact Larry Love at Larry@peakalarm.com to update this list with your current company information of which access control brands you install along with your phone number and web site information. This is a work in progress that I will add to as I get the current information.
Most Access Control Systems cost about $2,000 to $2,700 per door which include a Prox reader or biometric reader, a hold open door contact, a maglock or electric strike, a request to exit button or motion or both, door controllers and the installation and equipment. These systems allow you to limit access to certain areas, days of the week or specific hours that people can gain access.
Some Products are limited to a certain amount of doors such as only 8 or only 16 total so you could not expand. Others like DSX do not have a limit. (DSX has the limit of 32,000 doors per location and you can have 32,000 locations)
