Many of the TOP TEN, TOP FIVE or BEST ALARM COMPANY lists on the INTERNET are paid services so be sure to look each company up on the BBB web site before you make your decision.

Understand that Peak Alarm does not do Free equipment so if you are paying $149 for the basic PeakLink system with a monthly of $44 per month over 36 months you are paying $149 + $1,584 or $1,733 total but the equipment is not free, nothing ever is.

Other companies will charge you $56 per month or more for 60 months yet they give you FREE equipment but beware because if you do the math you end up paying $3,360 which is almost double so you are paying over $1,600 in order to save a few hundred dollars.

Larry Love has over 20 years in the industry and can help you with all of your alarm, camera, access control and fire alarm needs.

Recent Peak Alarm ongoing training

Brands of Fire Alarm

Depending on the brand of fire alarm you have installed in your facility the cost of parts and service will vary. When you choose a proprietary many times you may end up paying higher costs.

Peak Alarm offers ongoing training programs to their 300 plus employees at four offices in Idaho and in Utah. This week the sales teams were trained on what flexibility is available to us regarding contracts, the different options and customization that our Central Station can offer to the customers and we were trained on our new initiative WHITE GLOVE TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS AND EACH OTHER.

Call Larry Love (801) 428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.com for more information. ESPANOL Y ENGLISH http://www.peakalarm.com

Peak Alarm continues to train all their departments and the new WHITE GLOVE initiative is to help step up our customer service and also treat each other with more respect. Peak also puts all their employees through FBI background checks and even local police department checks.

Some of the other important points of the training were as follows:

All 22 of those in the training answered various questions and had to get answers from others in the group to complete the surveys.

1. What do you dislike most in a sales rep? Being Pushy, High Pressure, Late and Dishonest were the top four answers.

2. When a salesperson is talking to you, what interactions make you feel uncomfortable? Lack of knowledge, talking too much without listening

3. How do you as the customer define value? Bang for your buck. Not everyone will buy the most expensive product and most won’t buy the least expensive product but customers want quality and a fair price. Many are willing to go with a solid company like Peak Alarm even if the prices are a bit higher because Peak offers a whole package of same day or next day service, UL Listed Central Station, Guard and Patrol Service and top notch sales teams that are knowledgeable.

We discussed some of the tried and true principles of sales such as A.Preliminaries (Hello etc…) B. Investigating stage – What do they want, what do they need and what is their budget? C. Demonstrating – What is the capability of the products that Peak Alarm offers and D. Obtaining Commitment in the form of a signed proposal or agreement.

We learned about the research done between larger dollar sales and smaller items and how high pressure sales techniques actually hurt your possibility of getting a commitment when dealing in larger dollar amounts. The smaller purchases that can be related to impulse buying don’t cause as much buyer remorse. Getting a bad deal on a larger product such as a car can affect more people than the customer. Often other security companies hire very young people and teach them these high pressure sales techniques so they can go out and get quick sales. These are the same companies that are being sued in several states and that have thousands of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau.

Peak Alarm is proud that we have only had one complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau in the last 3 years as of 9/22/16 and zero complaints in the last two years.

We had a session on contracts and learned quite a bit about the ins and outs of these agreements and why we need them to protect the company and the customer.

We made long lists of items that we can improve on and among the list of items we determined that some of the most important things we all should be working on are: Being Honest at all times, Showing up early to each appointment and if we cannot then making sure we call ahead of time to let our customer know what happened and when we will arrive. Another skill that we all need to work on is COMMUNICATION. One of the most important parts of this skill is LISTENING so we learned some techniques associated with listening, body language and personalities. Product knowledge is important although we have a large team of people that can help with that and learning what our customers need and getting them pricing in a professional timely manner will make all the difference in the world. We also went over the importance of sending out hand written thank you cards.

We had a training during our two day training sessions where the sales team actually programmed a DMP security system so we could learn what the techs go through and have a better understanding of how the technical side works. Hands on training We also had a class about customer service and the options our Central Station can offer the customer. Well that is short recap of this training and then we ended with several of our team members getting awards for their efforts.

Thank you to Peak Alarm management for feeling that ongoing training is important enough to spend this much time and effort on. Call Larry Love to get more information about Peak Alarm, Pricing or to set up a tour of Peak Alarm in Salt Lake City.

(espanol).

I don’t want a long term monthly security monitoring contract

Month to month agreements are available

Month to month agreements are available

I would rather pay month to month than sign a long term monitoring contract

Peak Alarm offers different types of monitoring agreements including:

The following examples are based on Installation of the Control panel, cellular communicator, 3 Door Contacts and one motion detector. All of these plans include elite control which is interactive services that include remote arm and disarm. The monthly charge also includes the extended warranty repair agreement to avoid hourly labor charges on covered needed repairs. Many other companies that offer the interactive services start out at $49 per month and that does not include the repair agreement as ours does.

Month to month $890 down $46 per month
12 month – $660 down and $46 per month
24 month – $355 down and $46 per month
36 month – $99 down and $46 per month
48 month -$75 down and $46 per month
60 month – $49 down and $46 per month

The more you pay on the system the lower the contract length can be. This is the same with cell phones and other items as well like cars. I use the example for a cell phone because my kids both bought I-phones but one signed a longer agreement and paid less upfront. We can subsidize part of the equipment when you sign a 36 month agreement. Other companies tell you that you will get FREE equipment but don’t believe it because nothing really is free. You will either sign for a longer period of time or a higher monthly fee but it won’t be free. Security companies are in the business to make money and provide a service.

Adding a smoke/heat/freeze sensor, glass break or additional motion detectors would add $130 each per item added or $65 each for additional door or window contacts. Pricing is subject to change.

When you mention to me that you saw our TV commercial I can offer you 3 months of free monitoring and yes that is free but it is not equipment so we can do that for you.

Companies that charge very low monitoring rates normally lack in other areas because much of the time their service is automated and they don’t give you full service options. Make sure you verify before you buy

Peak Alarm has been in business for over 47 years (Since 1969)

Peak Alarm is the only local company in Utah that has both a Guard/Patrol Division and a UL listed Central Station. Other companies contract out their guard services or use a 3rd party central station and many of them our out of state. When you are talking to someone in NY and trying to tell them that you live closed to 106th south and Redwood Road it means nothing to them whereas our dispatchers are all local. Peak employees over 270 employees. Buy local it helps keep the money in Utah.

Peak Alarm has 4 offices to service you as well as being insured and licensed which many companies cannot boast.

Peak Alarm also has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau www.bbb.org and has only had 3 complaints in the last 3 years.

Security pricing step by step

First obtain your instructions in English

First obtain your instructions in English

Step 1 – Determine your needs and have an basic drawing and specifications of what you would like to all bidders can bid the same exact thing.

Step 2 – Only call licensed, insured Security companies that have a good rating with the Better Business Bureau. Check the Better Business Bureau Official Site

Step 3 – Check the Utah Occupational licencing web site to make sure they are a licensed company. DOPL Web site in utah

Step 4 – If you don’t have a site plan or enough knowledge to know what you need then call a reputable company that can help with that. Often companies will help with this for free although if you are going to put the project out to bid it is much better to pay a company to help with the design and the specifications. Let them know that you do not want to specify products that only one or two companies in the state can do. (Proprietary)

Step 5 – Understand there are big differences between a small commercial security system and a large commercial system. Often alarm companies will sell the small commercial systems to a medium or large business and then they don’t have expansion or all the features that may be needed. Cutting corners to save money is something that happens quite often. If you need special certifications for insurance make sure you do your homework so you will get the proper equipment installed. If you need special certifications like UL2050 and you have the wrong equipment installed it can be very costly to have equipment taken out and new equipment installed again.

Step 6 – Make sure the Alarm company you hire has the proper certifications for monitoring and installation. In Utah there are only 4 UL listed central stations that have the UUFX listing, only 5 that have the CRZH listing, only 3 that have the CPVX listing and only 3 that have the CVSG listing and only 2 that have the CRZM listing and only one local UL listed Central Station that has all 5 of these listings. (Peak Alarm) You can get on the UL web site to verify these listings. Official UL Web site

Example:

Cost of item(s)__________+ Cost of wire _________+cost of installation________+cost of conduit___________ = Actual cost

___Verify Licensing
___Verify UL listing certifications
___Verify Factory Training
___Verify code requirements for specific projects (NFPA 72, IFC, DOD, JFAN, ICD, ICS 705-1,ISPOM, UL2050 etc…..)
___Verify insurance – workers compensation – auto insurance – general liability insurance

Small installation = Simple pricing and wireless equipment – easy to price and monitor

Medium to large commercial installations – need specifications – equipment list – lift rental – site visit evaluation etc….

Peak Alarm among the best Monitoring rates in Utah

Call Larry Love at Peak Alarm for monitoring rates and pricing Larry@peakalarm.com (801) 428 1384 Peak Alarm web site ask for Larry Love

MONITORING RATES FOR OUR UL LISTED CENTRAL STATION vary with each plan and the equipment that is used. Some common rates so you can compare are as follows although you need to understand if you have a system with 20 zones or a system with 100 zones the time to test those points or zones will vary as will the pricing. Also if we use a Radio or High Supervision Cellular to monitor the prices are different than a normal cellular or phone lines. Rates are subject to change so call Larry for current a current price quote that will be customized for your situation

MONITORING PRICING FOR FIRE ALARM WITH AES RADIO IS $340.00 installation cost and $40.00 per month for 36 months

MONITORING PRICING FOR FIRE ALARM USING HIGH SUPERVISION CELLULAR IS $144.00 installed and $47.00 per month for 36 months

MONTHLY MONITORING PRICING FOR A SECURITY PANEL USING A CELLULAR COMMUNICATOR IS ZERO INSTALLATION AND $35 per month for 36 months

MONITORING FOR A SECURITY PANEL OR A FIRE PANEL USING ANALOG PHONELINES IS ZERO TAKEOVER AND $32.00 per month. Discounts for multiple accounts can be given and takeover fees depend on the exact number of points and if you have over 30 points that need to be tested call Larry and he can visit your site and get you exact pricing on your facility.

ADDING REMOTE ARM/DISARM or what we call ELITE Control or INTERACTIVE adds $5 dollars per month. This only works with Cellular service so if you have Radio and you want Elite control we would need to switch to cellular. If you have Standard Cellular with out Elite that is normally $10 per month so having both adds $15 per month. Additional services such as controlling your lighting adds $4 per month, controlling your thermostat adds $4 per month, adding remote control to your house locks also adds $4 per month. We have package deals that have several of these items together to save you money. Adding cameras to your security system adds $10 per month to the monitoring fee for the first 4 cameras. These cameras can be viewed using the app that also arms and disarms your security system. We have other options for cameras that do not have monthly fees so just ask about cameras and we can come out and go over your questions with you.

ADDING A REPAIR AGREEMENT IS A GOOD IDEA SO YOU DON’T have to pay hourly rates which could be very expensive. This monthly fee will vary depending on how many points you have on your system. A basic system repair agreement only adds $7 per month to the monthly fee.

ALARM RESPONSE is only $10 per month and provides you with Guard response in covered areas up to four times during the year for no additional cost on alarms. That is $120.00 a year and up to 4 Patrol Responses which only comes to $30 per guard response compared with $75 per guard response on a normal dispatch.

KEY RESPONSE IS ONLY $20 per month. This means we will respond to your home or business up to 4 times during the year and we will enter the premise and check the property rather than just driving around it. If it is evident that there was or is a break in Peak Alarm will call the police.

UL2050 High Security Services add things such as Supervised Schedules, openings and closing and UL Certificate to the agreement. Call Larry for a no cost estimate for rates on a UL2050 high security installation or monitoring.

Many of our competitors have higher pricing after all is added into the pricing. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples before you make a decision on your monitoring. Also it is prudent to call or look up the www.bbb.org Better Business Bureau since many of our competitors have hundreds or thousands of complaints and Peak Alarm has only had 3 complaints in the last 3 years.

Peak Alarm offers 60 month agreements, 48 month agreements, 36 month, 24 month, 12 month or even month to month agreements depending on your needs. When you go with a higher down payment we can lower the length of the agreement, when you want a lower down payment or installation price we can adjust the monthly amount as well as the length of the agreement. The examples above are done using a 36 month agreement. We have pricing for all of the above plans figured up using the different agreement lengths. An example of this would be that you do not want a long term contract because you may only be in the building for 2 years so security monitoring using a standard cell phone communicator on a 2 year agreement would be $185 down and $35 per month or $75 down and $46 dollars per month depending on the plan you would like.

The benefit of using a RADIO is that the monthly charge for two phonelines often exceeds $100 per month for the phone service, the cost of high supervision cellular costs more than radio and if technology changes on the cellular as it just did you may need to purchase new equipment. Example: 2G cellular will no longer be supported by the cell towers so you need to upgrade to 3 or 4G. The Radio is maintained by Peak Alarm and remains property of Peak so if the radio stops working Peak comes out and fixes it.

Peak Alarm holds the STATE MONITORING CONTRACT so if you are a State facility you can take advantage of lower monitoring rates through the State Contract.

Peak Alarm has been in business for over 47 years and holds 5 different Certifications with UL for installation and monitoring. Peak Alarm has over 270 employees here in Utah and we have offices in Idaho and Southern Utah as well. Peak Alarm also has a full Guard and Patrol Division and an AV Division.

Understanding Security Systems

Understanding Security Systems

Main Security Control Panel with back up battery (Often in an electrical closet/sometimes combined with the keypad in one)

Keypads –Used to arm and disarm(Many systems will allow you to use your smart phone to arm/disarm)

Motion detectors – Many will detect heat and motion. There are different brands and qualities

Door and Window Contacts report if a point is opened (devices can be wireless or hardwired)

Glass Break and Shock sensors – Detects the frequency of breaking glass or vibrations

Panic buttons – can be programmed for medical alert or duress situations

Smoke/Heat/Freeze detectors – These report to the Central Station and the Fire department will be dispatched. 120 Volt smoke detectors in your home do not report to the central station they are made just to wake you up.

Flood and Temperature sensors can often save you just as much or more in the long run than a burg system. Detecting that the home or business is below 41 degrees will allow you to mitigate damage before pipes freeze or burst.
Security systems have additional sensors such as tilt sensors for artwork or specialized equipment for specific circumstances including pressure sensor mats, bill traps etc…

Additional items can be controlled by your security system such as Locks, Cameras, Lighting, Garage door, Thermostat control just to name some of the items all can be added to your security system.
Notes:

Geo-fencing can be set up so when you get close to your home the lights come on the temperature is adjusted. The same geo-fencing can be set up so when the last cell phone leaves the area of the home or business the system will arm, garage door will close, lights will come on or off and the temperature can be adjusted.

A basic security system that has contacts for the entry and exit doors and one strategically placed trap motion can be purchased with the control panel, 3 Door Contacts and a motion for a very economical price and Peak Alarm offers very competitive monitoring rates.

The cost of the sensors will depend on the quantity and the quality and features that you decide upon. Additional services can also affect the monthly cost depending on your needs. When a higher down payment is made the monthly can often be reduced and when the monthly is higher we can lower the down payment that is required.

You can contact each and every window and each door and put motion detectors in all the rooms although in most cases this is not necessary.

Recommendations:
1. Peak Alarm recommends that you have at least one smoke detector on the top floor and one on the bottom floor. This is not referring to fire code requirements for businesses or placement since the 120 volt smoke detectors will be in each bedroom and in the hallway outside each bedroom. Businesses will need to be designed per code whereas the additional smoke detection added to a home can be done without fire marshal approval and this is in addition to code requirements.

2. We recommend that trap motions be placed in areas of the home where burglars would most likely access. This reduces how many motions you install and still gives you coverage. If however you are concerned that someone may break into one room and then leave without going anywhere else, we can design a system with complete coverage.

3. It is recommended to install a water sensor in the area where the washer is, where the dishwasher is and anywhere you feel pipes could have issues such as water heaters etc…

4. It is recommended that you contact your garage door so when you check it remotely you can tell if is open or closed. You could also have Peak install a garage door module that would control your opener so you could remotely close the door if it were open.

5. Adding a repair/extended warranty onto the monthly fees is an option that will help you avoid paying hourly service rates when a covered issue occurs. This repair agreement also covers the replacement of batteries.

Older security systems were tied to phone lines which could go down or be cut by burglars
Security systems that are being monitored by 2G cellular will stop working next year in 2017 or this year because the cell towers will no longer support the 2G technology.

New Security Systems give you the ability to monitor them via Radio or Cellular Communicators

Cellular Communicators allow you to arm and disarm your system from your smart phone remotely

Most of the time your insurance company will give you a discount when your central station verifies that you have a monitored system that protects
against burglary, temperature fluctuations, fire and flooding.
