Simplex Fire Alarm in Utah

Simplex is Tyco Simplex Grinnell

Simplex is Tyco Simplex Grinnell

Simplex Fire Alarm systems are installed and serviced in Utah by Tyco Simplex Grinnell located at 2702 S 1030 W #60, SLC, UT 84119 https://www.tycosimplexgrinnell.com/who-we-are/district-locator/salt-lake-city

My name is Larry Love and I have been in the Fire Alarm industry for over 20 years. Often I get asked to fix or provide parts for a Simplex Fire Alarm System. I in turn refer the person back to the above company since Tyco Simplex Grinnell sales, services and installs these systems. Simplex Fire Alarm Systems are high quality and can be installed in any size project. Simplex offers a wide range of products and is a National Company.

We could purchase the Simplex parts and pay Simplex to come in and assist us but I would rather be honest with my customers and have them go directly to Tyco Simplex Grinnell so they can get a better price. I work for Peak Alarm a local alarm company that has been in business for over 47 years and Peak Alarm can monitor your Simplex Fire Alarm at our UL listed Local Central Station http://www.peakalarm.com and you can contact Larry Love at 801 428 1384 or email him at Larry@peakalarm.com Simplex also has monitoring solutions which are normally out of State.

Comparing Alarm Companies in Utah

deciding on an alarm company

I will list come criteria below and then some of the Alarm companies here in Utah for comparison. I have listed the DOPL web site below and you can look up current licensing information on that web site to verify a company’s current status. If there are any errors on this blog please email Larry@Peakalarm.com and I will correct those errors. This is not a complete list of companies. Low price is not the best criteria when looking for a solid professional alarm company.

Some of the listed companies concentrate on residential home security systems and other companies do more commercial security. Some of the companies do Fire Alarm and some don’t so trying to compare is difficult. Trying to find a company that meets all of your requirements is possible and some people like to buy or support local companies which is another factor to consider.

When you have updated information please contact Larry Love at Larry@peakalarm.com and he can update your company information on this post. If there is incorrect information please make us aware of this as well. On the below web site you can look up Burglar Alarm companies or Contract Security Companies (Guard/Patrol) and you will find many companies that have had their licenses expire, some have been revoked and just in the list of Contract Security Companies 20 of those licenses have been denied. Do your research before you buy or invest with an Alarm company or Security Company.

This is not a complete list of companies so you can see the complete licensed list on the site below.

Verify a Utah DOPL Alarm company license

3-Mountain Communications RENEWAL DENIED

Apartment Protection Sys Inc DENIED
Automated Security LLC DENIED
AXIOM Sales LLC REVOKED
AVI Security Renewal DENIED

As you can see from this small sample of just the A letters that many of the licenses get denied or revoked. I did not list the expired licenses which just on the first 4 pages were 16 of the approximate 44 companies which is 36%. There are several reasons that a company could be put on administrative hold and you would need to check with DOPL to verify individual companies. Also the citations that DOPL gives out our public record and can be viewed on their web site. DOPL is The Division of Occupational Licensing. To get a State of Utah license companies have to show that they have current insurance, training and they need to have a qualifying agent that works for them. You can look on the same web site to see a list of items you would need to apply as a burglar alarm company or company agent. There are tests that need to be passed and an application process that does take some time. Trying to wade through the hundreds of companies is a chore.

Very few of the above companies have the entire list of services. Some of the National Companies such as TYCO and ADT do have most of the services but their central stations are out of state but they are UL listed, licensed, factory trained and they do have insurance.

Many web site say TOP 10 companies or the best 5 or top 5 companies but what you need to understand is to be on those lists you simply need to pay to get on those lists. You don’t have a have a good BBB Better Business Bureau report or even be licensed. That is why I suggest you looking at a few other criteria other than a top ten list to decide which company to use.

In the above list there is a company that has been in business since 1969,is licensed, insured, factory trained, BBB accredited with an A+ rating, has a UL listed Local Central Station to monitor your security and fire accounts, has the UL2050 listings from UL for high security, has a full Guard and Patrol Division and offices in Idaho and Utah to serve you. Peak Alarm is a clear choice when you need to decide on a security company to do your commercial or residential installations. Peak Alarm bidding out current construction projects

Peak can do any size project from start to finish

Peak can do any size project from start to finish

Peak Alarm web site ask for Larry Love

We encourage Electrical Contractors and General Contractors to send us plans and specifications so we can bid the projects that you need proposals on. If you have a link to a job and need a price please let us know. Sometimes we have time to get you the bid and sometimes we don’t. If you ask for a price the same day that it bids out the chances are low that we will be able to get you pricing.

Call Larry Love (801) 428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.com for pricing and he can come out and do a no cost site visit to make recommendations for your security, fire alarm, access control or cameras.

Peak Alarm bids out construction projects in Utah and Idaho. We have put some of the jobs that were are bidding online to encourage electrical contractors to call us for pricing. Peak is one of the largest alarm companies in Utah and the only alarm company that has their own local central station, AV Division, Guard /Patrol Division and their own UL Listed Central station.

Most projects have a specific list of manufactures listed in the specification so there are certain companies that can bid these project out and other companies that cannot. Often what occurs is that they will only flat spec products meaning that only one company in the State can bid the job. When they do this it is normally because the engineer is trying to match equipment with and existing fire alarm panel or they may want the same brand in all their facilities. The danger to this is having only one company that can bid so you are locked into their pricing for parts and labor. We call these products proprietary products.

Peak Alarm sends notification of those projects bidding but does not send out pricing to the contractors normally until the bid date and time. This helps prevent what we call price shopping where one contractor will call another subcontractor up to ask if they can bid the price that a specific company already gave them.

Peak Alarm strives to bid the projects to the Specifications and to the PLANS so we don’t have order changes later on. When equipment is not shown it makes this difficult because if the plan shows 22 smoke detectors and everyone bids 22 smoke detectors and then later on they add another 22 so the total is 44 this would change the price. This is the same when one flow switch and one tamper switch is shown on the plans and later they add 8 or 10 more monitor modules to monitor additional items. As a member of the Professional Estimators Society we were instructed to bid off the plans and use the counts listed on the plans so everyone is bidding the same equipment counts.

BID PROCESS:

OWNER HIRES ARCHITECT AND ENGINEERS TO DESIGN THE PROJECT
PLANS GO OUT TO GENERAL CONTRACTORS AND SUB CONTRACTORS TO BID THE PROJECT
LOW BIDDERS WIN THE JOB AND OFTEN LOW BID MAY NOT BE THE BEST BID SO REVIEWING THE BIDS IS AN IMPORTANT PROCESS
CONTRUCTION STARTS, SUBMITTALS ARE SENT IN AND PERMITS ARE APPLIED FOR AND THE PROJECT IS DONE AND INSPECTED

Upgrade Fire Alarm

Radio

Radio

Peak Alarm can upgrade your fire alarm or security system if your still having it dial out over an analog phone line.

Call Larry Love (801)428 1384 Larry@peakalarm.com

Often analog phone lines cost over $700 per year making it a perfect reason to have an AES Radio or Cellular communicator installed. The new High Supervision Cellular units for Fire Alarm send signals every 6 minutes. Often we can install a commercial AES Radio for under $400 dollars with the monitoring being $40 or $50 per month depending on your services and area. The savings from getting rid of your phone lines would pay for this easily. High Supervision Cellular is about $155 installed and $48 per month for 36 months. Pricing will vary depending on the length of contract and the cost of the monthly monitoring.

With cellular communicators you don’t have to worry about your phone lines being cut.

with Radio you don’t have to worry about the changing technology like the current 2G issue or your phone lines being cut. If your cellular is a 2G unit AT&T will take them off the grid next year and your system will not longer send signals. Upgrade now. Radio is consistant and Peak Alarm maintains your unit so it will continue working. We can add Radios to most panels.

Peak Alarm has been in business for over 46 years, has a better business A+ rating and only 3 complaints filed in the 3 years compared with many companies that are competitors that have over 1000 complaints.

Peak has their own UL listed Central Station

Peak has their own AV Division and Guard and Patrol Division

CO Detectors expire

This is real fish just not crab. It is quick and with rice and some butter or a sauce it's great. Also in soup or stir fry

This is real fish just not crab. It is quick and with rice and some butter or a sauce it’s great. Also in soup or stir fry

You would not eat expired fish knowing you might get very sick, on the same note you would be best served to replace your smokes and COs before they no longer function as effectively.

http://www.peakalarm.com

Did you know that CO detectors expire normally in 5 or 7 years?

Smoke Detectors should also be replaced every 10 years, with the new technology it is prudent to replace them anyway.

Also there is a new low frequency horn out (520mhz) that wakes people up better that you will soon see on the market that is now part of the new NFPA 72 code.

Access Control Companies

Access Control Installing companies in Salt Lake City and Utah

Please contact Larry Love at Larry@peakalarm.com to update this list with your current company information of which access control brands you install along with your phone number and web site information. This is a work in progress that I will add to as I get the current information.

Most Access Control Systems cost about $2,000 to $2,700 per door which include a Prox reader or biometric reader, a hold open door contact, a maglock or electric strike, a request to exit button or motion or both, door controllers and the installation and equipment. These systems allow you to limit access to certain areas, days of the week or specific hours that people can gain access.

Some Products are limited to a certain amount of doors such as only 8 or only 16 total so you could not expand. Others like DSX do not have a limit. (DSX has the limit of 32,000 doors per location and you can have 32,000 locations)
